A Danish neolithic antler battle axe dating to the late 5th. -early 4th. mill. BC.
Large axe, measuring nearly 20 cm. in length and 6-7 cm. thick across the base. A very efficient weapon in close combat for the hunters and gathering culture in the early neolithic period.
The axe is very good condition for this type, with the mountinghole set closer to the butt of the axe to secure a good balance. The axe with a minor losses and surface porousity, but in nice sound condition.
Antler axes are very rare and in high demand, first time we've had one in several years.
Ex International auction house. Found by Svend Danell in Trønninge Mose back in 1956, since then in a Danish Private Collection
