A HIGH QUALITY LARGE BRONZE MIRROR, CHINA, TANG DYNASTY, (618-907 AD).
An incredible bronze mirror with exceptional ancient patinated surfaces.
The mirror engraved with large and detailed mythical animals (Dragons and lions) around a central knob. Several concenthric lines with decoration around the central motif.
Size: 137 mm. in diameter and ca. 500 grams weight.
Condition: Choice, beautiful patina. the mirror was finely silvered in antiquity and much silver is still intact. Areas of red and green patina. The reflection side with fine cloth-marks in the patina from the way the mirror was wrapped in the tomb or grave.
Provenance: Ib Olsen Collection, bought in the 1950s-1960s.
