A bi-facial red Jasper seal, engraved with Luwian or related script on both sides, Hittite Empire, 14th.-12th. century BC.

The seal is pierced for suspension on a string and has a deep ridge on the side.

These seals are normally with the names of living persons and most commonly men, sometimes women. Our seal is so far untranslated, and the seal intact and the inscription sharp, so it should be possible to read it by an expert.

An important inscribed seal, carved in a highly attractive stone.

Size: ca. 24 mm. in diameter.

Condition: Choice, smooth wear overall.

Ex R.T. Private collection, since 1958 in Münich, Germany.
