A rare and interesting Cylinder seal in black stone, likely Serpentinite, Neo-Babylonian, ca. 800-600 BC

the seal carved with the image of the Great king standing with a Scimitar or Sicle sword in his right hand in front of a high doomed Alter.

This depiction is rather common on stamp seals but scarce and attractive on a cylinder! In this period stamp seals were mainly used, while Cylinders were being fased out.

Size: 16-17 mm.

Condition: Choice, some even wear but image clear and seal intact.

Ex. Old US Collection, bought at Hirsch German Auctions many years ago.
