Massive Cypriot amphora, dating to the Cypro-Archaic period, circa 700 - 600 BC.
With splayed foot and wide voluminous body, rounded shoulders, cylindrical neck and two double strap handles. Richly decorated with bands of red and black pigment overall and handles with vertical bands.
An impressive and attractive Amphora!
Size: 21 cm. tall and 21 cm. wide, a substantial piece.
Condtition: Choice, repair of a chip with hairline, and minor loss to the rim in the same area, othervise intact. This could easily be restored and become almost invisible.
Provenance: Emil Månsson, 1896-1977 collection, A Swedish collector of numismatics and antiquities, comes with his old collection tag.
