A large and massive Hellenistic tanagrina, terracotta statue from Tanagra (Greece), 4th.-3rd. century BC.

A terrific large figurine of the woman dressed in long gown, very fine quality details.

The Tanagra figurines were a mold-cast type of Greek terracotta figurines produced from the later fourth century B.C., primarily in the Boeotian town of Tanagra.

They were coated with a liquid white slip before firing and were sometimes painted afterwards in naturalistic tints with watercolors.

Size: 18,5 cm. - c. 7,3 inches.

Condition: Repaired at the neck and the lower parts of the body. Much pigment remaining.

Ex Coll. of Dr.G.K., München, 1960's and before.
