An important and absolutely stunning ancient Chinese Jade axe, Late Han Dynasty, ca. 0-200 AD
This axe is fine a real gem with the most convincing beautiful ancient surface!
The axe displays on each side the fine relief engraving of an Ox or Bull and with panels of spirals near the drilled hole.
The stone is splendid - with fossilized and with a fine calcification, a mottled cream and white colour. The surfaces are really glossy with fine high polishing, difficult to picture.
Size: 77 x 48 mm. 83 grams.
Ex. Egeskov Fine Arts (Private Collection of a Danish Jade expert), Ex Jan Novak, Sweden ca. 1950-2005, bought at Victoria Lindström Antique shop in Stockholm, ca. 1955.
