An illusive macehead designed to swing at the end of a chain attached to a pole, the socalled Morgen Stern or morning star in bronze, Viking / Early Medieval, likely Norse / Baltic area, ca. 8TH.-9TH. century AD.
Though often pictured as a repro, the morning star was a weapon demanding a lot of skills of the user, thus not very common then or today. This is actually the first we've had in 20 years of dealing.
A spiked, compact and very deadly Macehead with a loop on top to attached it to the chain.
Size: 5,4 cm. and weighing ca. 176 grams.
Conditon: The macehead has many smaller dings from battle use, but is intact with a superb green patina.
