An rare and refined bronze ritual Bell, Indonesia, Java, Majapahit Empire, 13th.-14th. century.
As temporary with the Yuan and Early Ming Dynasties, the Majapahit Empire became a dominant world power in the 13th.-15th. century unders ruler like Hayam Wuruk. Majapahit was an empire of 98 tributaries, stretching from Sumatra to New Guinea;consisting of present-day Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, southern Thailand, East Timor, Sulu Archipelago and other parts of the Philippines.
The elaborate bronze Bell with concenthric line and floral decoration in high relief. Loop at the top Massive, solid piece. Interestingly, the Bell is in find condition, still with the interior preserved, corroded as seen in the pictures.
Size: 10 cm. tall, 7,5 cm. wide and weighing ca. 540 grams.
Condition: Choice, great metal for the high age, olive patina with uncleaned corrosion and spots of verdigris. This can all be removed quite easily if so desired by the buer, but we have left it as is, since it's a great sign of the high age.
