An huge and extremely rare excarvated bronze food vessel, for the storage of foods or liquids, Byzantine, 6th.-9th. century AD.

The largest vessel, we've ever handled from Late Antiquity and as such very unusual for it's preservation. Made in solid metal with a large round body and a short neck and wide mouth. A utility vessel, used for containing foods or liquids. The vessel finely decorated with hammered patterns on the body.

Height: H 39,5 cm, Diameter 38 cm. cm., weight approx 6,7 kilograms - a HUGE piece for this early vessel!

Condition: Superb!, fine excarvated condition, with much dirt and encrustations uncleaned, beautiful metal for the age.
