A huge prehistoric gable seal, one of the largest known, Mesopotamia or Syria, ca. 5th.-4th. millenium BC.
A rectangular seal in hard black Serpentine stone, engraved with two stags. Wonderful quality engraving and the medium among the best of the early period.
With it's approx 7 cm. in length and 4 cm. wide, one of the absolutely largest early seals in existence. We checked the Erlenmeyer collection and could only find one other seal larger than this, of another type of decoration.
Ex. German Collection (Berlin), collected from the 1980s and onwards.
Comes with collectors own notes and photos along with a hard wax impression.
