Exceptional massive stamp seal, carved in fine translucent Calchedony, Neo-Babylonian, 7th.-6th. century BC. Large for the type.

A hardstone ellipsoid stamp seal with design depicting a standing bearded robed male, worshipper or perhaps a priest, facing the Alter on which the mushhushu-dragon is reclining, symbols of Marduk and Nabu. Fínely carved in drill style.

Size: 30 mm. tall and the seal plate 22 mm. x 12 mm.

Condition: Superb or about so. Splendid quality!

Ex. German Collection (Berlin), collected from the 1980s and onwards.

Comes with collectors own notes and photos along with a hard wax impression on red filt.
