An important and exceptionally beautiful stamp seal, Achaemenid, ca. 600-400 BC.
Carved and finely polished in a lovely banded agate stone; engraved on the seal with a pair of confronting animals. Spectacular seal that does not come much better than this and of a rare large size.
Of scaraboid shape, typical of the stamp seals of the early greco-Persian period.
Size: 34 mm. in length and ca. 23 mm. wide. Massive and very impressive in hand.
Condition: Choice! Wonderful calcification, especially on the endings and on the seal side. Finely crackled which is visible in the impression as well.
Ex. Old Danish private Collection, comes with provenance and COA.
