A choice and scarce cylinder seal with old provenance, Old Babylonian Kingdom ca. 1900-1800 BC.
The seal carved in black hardstone, likely serpentine with beautiful scene of a demi-god leading worshipper before the throne of the supreme god Enki or Ea.
Size: 23-24 mm. tall and ca. 1 cm. thick.
Condition: Choice, finely carved and minimal corrosion with a fine imprint.
Provenance: This seal comes from an old Swedish collection, and bought at Victoria Lindströms Antiques shop in Stockholm ca. 1950. The seal comes from a much old collection and has the old gilt brass fitting from this collection stamped with an 'E'.
