A rare and splendid standing model of Buddha, with thick gilt, Indonesia, 10th.-11th. century BC.

The lavishly gilt figure is standing in a relaxed pose on a gilt double lotus Throne on a high decorated podium, holding a gold purse. At his feet is two gilt rats. A terrific backplate for the Throne is decorated with zoomorphic figures. Beautiful serene expression with down-cast eyes.

Size: 22,4 cm. tall (back of throne) and weighing almost 1 kilogram.

Condition: Superb for the period, beautiful patina with minor corrosion and smaller losses to surfaces, but fine metal for the period.

Ex. Old Swedish Collection, formerly in the Ban Bang Yoga Carta collection - an Indonesian professors collection, bought in the 1960s-1970s.
