An important and beautiful larger pottery bowl with an extensive arabic inscription, Kashan area, ca. 12th.-13th. century AD.
Absolutely stunning conically shaped pottery bowl with green-yellow decoration on a cream-white ground. Two standing birds facing each other, surrounded by floral decorations and micro dots; near the rim a band of Arabic Caligraphy running all around the bowl, possible a recitation of verses of the Quran.
Size: 25 cm. wide and 10 cm. high.
Condition: Choice! A very few large fragments restored nicely with only the very crackline re-touched! So the bowl stands out extremely original with +90% original glaze and beautiful grazing and patina. Also note that the entire caligraphic inscription is complete and original as made 800 years ago.
