A large section or panel from a wooden casket, Late period, 1st. millenium BC.
The Panel with a mummyform Osiris figure laying dead on an ornate bed at the top and with the rest of the space occupied with long rows of interesting hieroglyps, likely from the Book of The Dead. Of three sections, tappered together, plastered and painted in fine colours.
Size: 59 cm. tall and 28 cm. wide (max).
Condition: A fine piece with much of the interesting decoration preserved but with losses along the lines of the three sections.
Provenance: Jytte Soelberg Private Collection, bought in the 1970-1980 from much older collection of a Danish Engineer, travelling in Egypt in the 1950s.
