A rare and wonderful bronze and silver figure of Buddha, Borobudur style, Central JaVa, Indonesia, 8th.-9th. century AD.
A Borobudur style, with a particularly fine serene expression of Buddha, seated on a double Lotus Throne, with globe and large halo behind head. Note that this figure is covered with a very silver plating, so it's not silvered but plated with metal. This can be cleaned, but we only had the time to partial clean head and other parts.
An important and rare early Buddha
Size: ca. 16 cm. tall.
Condition: Choice, partially uncleaned with great potential, loss to the rim base and the top.
Ex. Old Swedish Collection, formerly in the Ban Bang Yoga Carta collection - an Indonesian professors collection, bought in the 1960s-1970s.
