A beautiful pair of cylinder seals, Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Aztec, ca. 1000 to 1500 AD.
These cylindrical ceramic seal stamps (sometimes called sellos) has geometric designs. Cylindrical seal stamps are found throughout pre-Columbian Mexico, and may have been used to apply consistent ritual body paint for religious ceremonies.
Size: ca. 32 mm. in diameter and up to 23 mm. high.
Ex. German collection of Westermann, that goes back to the 1960s.
