A rare and beautiful bronze cauldron, European Renaissance period, Flemish type, 15th.-16th. century.
Made of, now beautifully patinated, bell-metal or white bronze, constructed as a globe with three short legs (hexagonal) and typical gothic style handles. Note the metal rod from the casting in the bottom which is typical for European early metal antiques.
Size: 21,5 cm. wide and 18 cm. tall. Weight: 2,5 kilogram.
Condition: Superb for type, completely intact with nothing to mention. Lovely dark bronze patina with redish patina on the legs.
Provenance: The Estate of Carl-johan Hummeltoft (1958-2020), Birkerød, Denmark. Carl-Johan was a vivid collector and among other areas, he held an impressive collection of early European pottery and metal items.
