An exceptional and quite substantial bronze belthook, Chinese, dating to the Eastern Zhou dynasty - Warring States period (475–221 B.C.).
The gilt bronze surface cast as a feline mask embellished with twisted sashes heightened with raised commas enclosing a circular plaque; a long post terminating in a dragon's head hook. The front with fine gilt preserved in the devices, reverse with circular form knop.
Size: 8,7 cm. long and quite massive in hand.
Condition: Superb for type, terrific metal and fine dark green and redish patina.
