An heavy ancient terminal in bronze in the form of Garuda, Cambodia, Khmer Bayon style, ca. 12th. century AD.
Very attractive finial with a complicated and wonderful depiction of mythological composite creature Garuda, the divine bird with a human body that was the mount of Vishnu.
Holes for rivetes at the side and possibly for wooden furniture. Cast in solid bronze.
Size: 13 cm. tall and 11-12 cm. long, 15,5 cm. tall as mounted. Very solid metal weighing 850 grams!
Condition: Choice and intact, good core metal, dark red and green patina with lighter spots. Uncleaned earthern encrustations.
