A very attractive early type of battle axe, made in the Medieval Crusader period of Europe, 12th.-14th. century.

The axe rather large and heavy for a battle type with reenforced socket and a broad triangular blade, developed from the Viking period types.

Size: 18,5 cm. long and with the blade being c. 12 cm. wide (max).

Condition: Choice and completely intact, fine fresh metal for the early type and with an attractive 'pitted' surface from buriel.

Provenance: Danish Private collection of Grethe Pedersen, Ledøje, Denmark, ca. 1950-1997. Purchased at antique dealer Ole Jensen, 1960s.
