A lovely early North-European bronze tripod Pan, dating to mid-late 18th. century AD.
An early type of Scandinavian cuphrite brass metal pan for open fire with three legs and a closed handle. Later crude owners initials from time of use are dating to c. 1800. This particular alloy and type was made c. 1750-1780.
The pan with wonderful patina, extensive wear and repairs from the time of use.
Size: c. 33,6 cm. long incl. the handle. Heavy!
Provenance: The Estate of Carl-johan Hummeltoft (1958-2020), Birkerød, Denmark. Carl-Johan was a vivid collector and among other areas, he held an impressive collection of early European pottery and metal items.
