A wonderful quality pottery Jug from Siegburg, Germany dating to the 16th. cent. AD.

A type called Trichterhalskrug in German, that often was made with an oval or round medallion at teh front. In this case the medallion is unusually crisp and elaborate for the type and depicts a coat of arms for a city or a wealthy House.

Size: 16 cm.

Condition: Good very fine for the often heavily restored type and age. Our specimen is completely intact but for a micro thin hairline at the applied handle. It's glossy in parts with remaining glaze and the rim of the base in complete and undamaged - a gem really!

Provenance: The Estate of Carl-johan Hummeltoft (1958-2020), Birkerød, Denmark. Carl-Johan was a vivid collector and among other areas, he held an impressive collection of early European pottery and metal items.
