Very attractive large stamp seal in finely polished black stone, Uruk period of East Anatolia, c. 4th.-3rd. mill. BC.

Round seal with elaborately evolving handle from the back and carved with lovely symethric depiction of loops. Quite unique! Described by the collector as Hittite, but the seal is clearly provincial Uruk style.

Size: 29 mm x 23 mm and 15 mm. tall.

Condition: Extremely fine.

Comes with imprint and original Id card.

Provenance: Gustav Oberländer (1926-2012), Oberländer aquired his massive and important collection between 1985 - 2000s, bought at reputable dealers and from old collections. Gustav Oberländer specialized in stamp seals and Cylinder seals from the pre-historic and Dynastic civilizations in the Near East / Mesopotamia, Anatolia and Bactria, as well as the later ancient cultures.
