A lovely core-style cylinder seal in an agate type of stone probably calchedony, Achaemenid Empire, 550-331 BC.
The seal in a very beautiful realistic style depicting e Kneeling archer (The Great Persian King) aiming at an ibex, a hunting dog is helping him catching the prey and there's an alter for Ahura Mazda behind below a crescent moon above star.
Size: 30 mm. tall and 13 mm. wide, a substantial piece.
Condition: Near Very fine, the engravings are extremely fine, but there's a couple of chips to the rim, below the Ibex.
Provenance: The Karl Müller collection, Germany 1950-1977. Comes with COA and his imprint.
