A massive early European Pewter Flacon, Hamburg, Germany, manifactured 1751 (touch marks) and dated 1759 on the lid.

Wonderful shape with an integram and very massive spout with a heart-shaped mouth, the handle with thumb rest on the top.
The lid profusely engraved with guild marks, a tang with a nail, crossed keys, a hammer, an iron anker etc., so likely from a guild of metal smiths.
There's also a longer German text all inside a floral wreath.

With German Pewtermarks on the handle - see images.

A rare and finely preserved large Flagon!

Size: Large for these, 32 cm. tall and 26 cm. wide over the spout and handle.

Condition: Nice very fine, beautiful quality, typical smooth wear and patina but intact and choice!

Provenance: Private Collection of Bjørn De Roepstorff, an important Danish castle / mansion collection of Early European Pewter.
