A lovely early European Pewter tankard or Stein, Germany, dated 1729 on the front.

Decorated with a central image of two shoes and an axe and tool, inside a wreath. Engraved with the NAME: ''ANDRES THYS 1729''

With German Pewter touchmark of a crowned star on the handle as well - see images.

Andres Thys probably received the finely crafted tankard with the impressive stepped lid as a present for graduating as a shoemaker in 1729. Such high quality tankard from this early period are very rare!

Size: c. 27 cm. tall and solidly built!

Condition: Extremely fine for the early type, with no visible repairs and fine metal.

Provenance: Private Collection of Bjørn De Roepstorff, an important Danish castle / mansion collection of Early European Pewter.
