A lovely set of three pewter measuring mugs for quarter, Pint and 1/2 pint, England, 18th.-19th. century.

Scarce as a complete set in this quality with brass rims and profusely inscribed with owners names and fine pewter touchmarks. The Quarter mug (1 quart Imperial capacity) is quite large and would probably have contained nearly a liter liquid. Brass rim measures are considered to have been used to measure shell fish and dry produce, though.

Size: The quarter mug is c. 15 cm. tall and 18 cm. wide over the handle. The Pint, 11 cm. by 14 cm. and the small one 9 cm. by 11 cm.

Condition: Good Very fine for the early set. Some smooth wear from polishing, but intact and great metal.

Provenance: Private Collection of Bjørn De Roepstorff, an important Danish castle / mansion collection of Early European antiques.
