Northern Thai blue & cream pottery octagonal VASE with lotus leaves on the upright portion of the vase and alternating geometric and vegetal patterns on the eight sides of the body. Concentric lines around the outside of the foot rim which is slightly splayed. Provenance: From the Arthur M. Sackler Collections, purchased from Christie's in NYC. Condition: a restored chip to the mouth (7 mm.) which has a chip (2 mm) to the restoration. The glaze is crazed, deteriorated, stained and there are losses and gaps where the pottery shows through. Nonetheless, a beautiful and somewhat rare example of Thai ceramic art.
