This is an exquisite Art Nouveau Vienna Secession silver sterling cigarette case with the profile of a woman in floral design. This magnificent composition is duplicated on the reverse as well.
The Vienna Secession was formed in 1897 by a group of Austrian artists who had resigned from the Association of Austrian Artists, housed in the Vienna Künstlerhaus. This movement included painters, sculptors, and architects.
The cover of the box closes tight and the interior straps are present and in good shape.
This magnificent piece is fine sterling silver with an engraving of 800 visible on the edge. It is indeed
a superb craftsmanship. It measures 85 mm x 56 mm x 13 mm and weighs about 54 grams.
