This is a bronze statue of Dionysus, the god of the grape harvest, winemaking, and fertility, the fertility of nature, also known as Bacchus, in excellent condition, embellished with a beautiful aged green patina. The statue depicts in fine style the visage of the god of wine in articulation, with two horns, grape on left shoulder, sitting on grape leaves.
The age of the bronze Roman god of wine is traced between the 1st - 3rd century AD. It appears to be a decoration piece on the belly of a pitcher or a vase.
