Bust right, wearing eagle crown with korymbos / Fire altar with ribbon and bust left in flames; flanked by two attendants, the left wearing winged crown with korymbos, the other wearing mural crown. Beautiful iridescent toning. Rare variety with two large dots on reverse on lower part of fire alter. SNS type Ia/3a; Göbl type I/1a var.; Paruck -; Saeedi -; Sunrise 815. Lovely style. Well struck on a nice full broad flan. Choice Superb EF and toned.
Hormozd II was the eighth king of the Sasanian Empire, and reigned for seven years and five months, from 302 to 309 AD. He was the son of Narseh (293–302 AD).
