Offered is a magnificent antique 1900 bronze plaque depicting Abraham Lincoln with fabulous bas-relief details by the famous Italian sculptor and craftsman, Luini Costanzo.
Luini Costanzo was born in Milan, Italy on August 31st, 1886, died in New York in 1980. He was a descendant of Bernardino Luini, the fresco painter and student of Leonardo da Vinci. He immigrated to the United States at the turn of the century, was a pupil of Aitken and MacCartan, and also a member of New York Architectural League, American Federation of Arts, Boston Society of Arts and Crafts, Art League of Nassau County. He dedicated much of his work to patriotic themes, specializing in plaques and bas-reliefs medallions and bust portraying contemporary American celebrities.
This marvelous antique plaque has the signature hallmark of C. LUINI SCULPTOR on the lower right side. The plaque is in perfect shape with a suspension loop on the back for hanging. It measures 10” x 7.25” x 0.5.
