Found in the MUSI RIVER, close to Palembang City, which was the Capital of the SRIVIJAYA KNGDOM and which had a vast trade network with China and Siam. Condition overall good, one inconsequential chip on the lip of the top ring. Size:height 13 cm x 13 cm. diameter at the center. Rare Collector's item!

The foot itself remained unglazed. Diameter 7.5 cm x height 6 cm. This fine and rare Celadon was found in the Musi river, close to Palembang City, which was the Capital of the SRIVIJAYA KINGDOM, and which had a vast trade network with China and Siam. THIS POT WAS FOUND IN THE MUSI RIVER, CLOSE TO PALEMBANG CITY, WHICH WAS THE CAPITAL OF THE SRIVIJAYA KINGDOM AND WHICH HAD A VAST TRADE NETWORK WITH CHINA AND SIAM. OVERALL CONDITION VERY GOOD, ONE HARDLY NOTICEABLE, TINY INCONSEQUENTIAL CHIP ON THE TOP RIM. SIZE: HEIGHT 7.5 cm x 7 cm diameter.

This is one of the 3 Buddhas which belonged to the collector and which represents the Thai ideal of possessing the 3 most desiable images for worshipping, i.e. UTHONG, CHIENGSAEN and SUKKOTHAI.

An exceptionally fine black lacquered wooden SHAN STATE BUDHHA, 19th Century, with very high quality gilding. The Buddha is in the subduing Mara position and sitting on a very high stepped throne. Size: height 23" x width 9" at base x depth 7". Very good condition, with a fissure on the base due to the considerable age.
