A very rare Giant Size Dry Lacquer Buddha Head on a custom made base (can be removed), Shan State, Burma, 19th Century. Very nice smooth Patina, some inconsequential wear, especially to individual hair curls, but excellent overall condition as shown. The Ushnisha or Flame on the top of the head is removable and most likely from a later date as is typical of such venerated Buddha images. Guaranteed 19th Century. A rare and very nice genuine AYUTTHAYA Sandstone Head of Buddha (1351-1767 A.D.), mounted. Size: H. 33 cm. x W. 17 cm. (without stand 24 cm. x 17 cm.)

Smooth and serene Marble Shakyamuni Buddha subduing Mara. Robe and base are brown with some fine details and gilding. The head of the Buddha is covered with a multitude of small pointed hairlocks called "Shwebo-thorns" on top of which is the stupa shaped flame. The Buddha is clad in a nice robe showing overlapping folds and decorated bands, which also cover the right shoulder and left arm. This is a unique piece of art showing unusual details, refined carving skill and craftsmanship...

Very serene Lacquer SHAN STATE Buddha Head with traces of gilding. Hollow, mounted on removable temporary base. Ushnisha-Flame also removable and probably from a later date. Very good condition. Size: H. 44 cm. x W. 22 cm. x D. 19 cm. Large size Buddha heads such as this one have become very rare and difficult to find.
