Very nice smooth Patina, some inconsequential wear, especially to individual hair curls, but excellent overall condition as shown. This type of handmade lacquer offering bowl has 6 compartments which are removable and were used to make merit by offering various kinds of food to the monks in the temples. A rare antique Cinnabar Red Lacquer Basket from Northern Thailand. 19th Century. A very labour intensive handmade procedure where woven and coiled bamboo and clay formed the base of this container. Furthermore, 6 ribs were bent and curved to form feet at the base. The top was curved and rolled inwards and many coats of lacquer were applied over and over after drying each one. Overall condition good, some wear, size: 17.5 cm. height x 38 cm. top diameter, 24 cm. bottom diameter.

A fine and rare MEIJI Period (1886-1912) Japanese 2-piece gold lacquered Cabinet with multiple drawers and fashioned with nice gilt bronze fittings. It rests on a table-like base with beautifully curved legs. The cabinet is beautifully worked in low relief gold lacquer depicting rabbits, hills as well as decorative, finely painted flowers. Very serene Lacquer SHAN STATE Buddha Head with traces of gilding. Hollow, mounted on removable temporary base. Ushnisha-Flame also removable and probably from a later date. Very good condition.
