A very attractive bronze seated disciple/monk holding an alms bowl in his left hand which rests on his leg, while gracefully helping himself with his right hand. This monk is the disciple Mahakasyapa who was particularly close to Buddha. In the tradition of the Zen-masters, Kassapa is the first of the monks to receive from the Buddha "without word or writing" the unspeakable highest truth of the Dharma.
The base of this statuette has a small hole on the left for placing incense sticks.
