A rare and complete set of superbly modeled polychrome MING DYNASTY Pottery Tomb ZODIAC FIGURES. Each high priest is holding one of the 12 Chinese astrological zodiac animals, dating to the early Ming Dynasty (ca. 1400-1500 A.D.). Special attention was paid by the artist to minute details of each animal and fine colors of the flowing robes and hats the high priests are wearing. It is difficult to find a complete set of 12 zodiac pieces with none missing or broken, especially excavated from the same tomb as these were. Condition good overall, no restorations. Size: Height approximately 20 cm. (8"inches) with minor variations.
