A very rare TANG DYNASTY (618 - 906 A.D.) Buddhist Votive TSA-TSA Tablet, terracota, China, depicting Amitabha (Chinese Amitofou) the Buddha of the Western Paradise holding a staff. Amitabha is one of the most widely worshipped deities in Mahayana Chinese Buddhism from the late 6th to the 10th Cent. and in Japan from the 11th Century onward.
Here the Lord Buddha is depicted standing on a Lotus Petal, rising from a Pond, and surrounded by rising tendrils of Lotus buds.
Very fine workmanship and overall in good condition with inconsequential soft edges. Size: 6.5 cm. x 4.5 cm. x 4 cm.
