A pair of fine iron ballista points or spear-tips, Medieval Europe, ca. 1200-1400 AD. These large examples are 4-1/4” long and have a wide socketed neck, with a two-barbed swallowtail head. One has a spiral-twist to the metal shaft just behind the head, likely to be intentionally broken off at impact, thus rendering it useless as return ammunition.

An exceptional Amazonian Indian ceramic polychrome vessel from Brazil, early 1900’s. This superb example is 8” in diameter, 5-3/4” high and comes from the Asurini tribe, which apparently is no longer a functioning tribal entity. These magnificent jars were used to store liquid foods and are coated with a natural tree resin (post-firing), which preserves the brilliant colors and makes it leak proof. In excellent condition.

A fine blow gun dart kit from the Amazon region of Brazil. It is 9-1/2” long, is made from bamboo with a bark lid and is filled with darts. The hollow gourd is filled with fiber (cotton?) used to wrap the darts and is attached to the nicely woven strap.

An excellent carver's stool from the April River area of Papua New Guinea, early 1900's. It is 14-1/2” long and is nicely carved on all sides. A well-detailed fox head surrounded by geometric designs decorates one side, while a typical tribal symbol covers the other. The seat itself is surrounded by a serpent design. Lovely patina.

A large Bahia whistle figure from Ecuador, ca. 200 BC – 300 AD. This lovely figurine is 10-1/4” high and depicts a standing female with hands held to the mid-section. Her facial features clearly show the earlier Chorrera stylistic influence. She is wearing a long skirt and is adorned with multiple ear ornaments and a necklace. Good paint, strong mineral deposits and clear tone on the pair of whistles hidden inside.

A rare Calima figural incensario from the Valle Del Cauca, Colombia, ca. 1200 – 1600 AD. It is 6” high and depicts a seated saurian deity with hands resting on the knees. He is elaborately adorned and decorative elements at the rear create another stylized face. Strong paint and mineral deposits, minor losses.

An excellent Chancay comb from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. This rare weaving tool is 3-1/2” long, 2-3/8” wide. Beautifully made from split reed, most likely Carrizo, with flattened points on both sides. This rare textile weaving tool is bound with the brown and tan braided thread typical of Chancay textile manufacture and has an unusual stitched element. Choice example.

An excellent Chimu or Lambayeque canteen from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. This lovely blackware vessel is 7” high and is a ceramic version of a bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria). This rare example also mimics the large, stacked vessels used by chicha vendors in the markets. It is highly burnished, has intact suspension loops and shows strong mineral deposits and trails overall.
