This is a very fine Japanese tripod signed Satsuma lidded Koro with a pierced lid and a sculpture of shishi on top. It comes with a wood base.
The Koro is decorated with two very finely hand-painted shields. One shield depicts ladies , men and three children , a river , mountains, a bridge and houses on a background. Another shield depicts four men , four women and children on front, and people in a boat, houses, mountains and a river on the background. The background of the vase also has scenes with fans with various decorations and flowers.
It measures 4 7/8 inches tall by 3 1/4 inches in diameter and 5 3/8 inches tall with the base, and dates 19th century, Meiji, Japan.
