This is a very fine big Japanese Tokyo School Bronze (originally dark-brown patinated) Okimono of a carpenter working on a tree trunk. The man holds a chisel in his left hand an a hammer (removable) in his right hand. There is a tool box with different tools and one shoe next to man's foot. We can see couple chisels, a saw , a level, and couple files inside the tool box. The okimono is signed by the artist - TAKYOSAI- (the signature is in the center of the bottom of a small tree trunk).
This detailed authentic (not a copy!) Okimono is in excellent condition with no damages.It comes with an original wood base.
The Okimono is 19 inches long by 14 1/2 inches tall and 8 1/4 inches wide.
This bronze okimono dates 19th century, Meiji, Japan.
