This is a very fine signed by the artist Japanese tripod Satsuma lidded Koro with a sculpture of Foo-dog on a lid and three pierced heart-shaped holes.
It has unusual oval blue gilded handles. The Koro has two fine shields. One shield depicts nine aristocrats, children over landscape with a river , mountains and houses.
Another scene has ten samurai and a boy, a landscape with mountains, a river and fans on the background. The rest of the Koro is finely hand- painted and decorated with symbolic gilded ornaments.
All gilded decorations are finely raised.
It dates 19th century, Meiji, Japan, and measures 4 inches tall by 2 5/8inches in Diameter.
