Japanese Edo Period (first part 19th century) hard wood Kodansu with doors and drawers decorated with mother-of-pearl, ivory and gold painted panels with floral decorations and birds with no missing inlays.
There is a multi-metal (shakudo, gold, and silver) original latch. Two smaller doors are made with metal knobs in shape of cones. The lacquer painting and inlays are very fine and beautiful . Kodansu is based on an original pedestal. The wood has beautiful age patina and age wear with no cracks, losses, damages, or repairs.
It is strong , all doors and drawers function well.
It is 22 1/2" tall x 9" deep and 17 1/2" wide.
