Pair of Important Japanese Meiji Period Studio Porcelain Kutani Vases made by the great Watano. One vase has a green background and red, gold and silver painting of a hat, stuff, and a butterfly seated on a hat. There is a scene of a water-dragon with gold color and silver originally patinated silver waves. There are six decorative shields over the top. Another vase has a the same type of hat with a dragonfly and a butterfly. The background decorations of the vases are different. The top shields are painted with six rabbits in various positions and the body of the vases are decorated with air dragons with wings and kirins. The decorations over the vases' neck are the same.
Both vases are in excellent condition with no wear to gold, a slight wear of the silver. 10 1/4" tall x 6 1/2" D.
