Japanese fine Meiji Period (1868-1912) magnificent hand-painted and finely decorated Satsuma basket shaped Cricket Cage ( Incense Burner), signed by the artist. It has pierced sides and a lid. It has an elegant extended handle, three relieved leafs. It is decorated with two round scrolls over the upper part of the Koro, four decorative scrolls on each side of the body and three scrolls on front and the back of the bottom of the Koro. All are finely painted and decorated with various scenes from Japanese life, aristocrats and saints designs. The Koro rests on three tiny feet with a signature and Shimazu cross on the bottom. 8" tall x 4 1/8" D
