Museum quality pair of Japanese late Edo (mid 19th Century) Porcelain vases with elephant heads- shaped handles. The Vases have fine satsuma style hand-painted designs depicting 5 samurai on front on each vase and 8 immortals in various positions on opposite sides on each vase.
The sides of the vases have landscape scenes with flying birds on each vase and landscapes with flowers and flying birds on the other sides.
There are symbolic decorations and fine gold paintings throughout the vases, and Greek-key elements on top of the vases.
