This is a beautiful Meiji (19th century) Japanese hand-carved and hand-polished ivory barrel-shaped Kogo (small box) decorated with branches of grapes and leaves over a lid and two monkeys chasing a fly over the sides . The signature of the artist is between monkeys on the side of the box. The Okimono is hand-polished and has a beautiful age patina. It is in excellent condition: no damages, losses, or chips; it closes and opens easily. The Kogo measures 1 3/4 inches and 2 1/8 inches in Diameter.
